The urgency of this effort cannot be expressed enough. Yes, there are other causes that demand your attention and consideration. It is said that "a mind is a terrible thing to waste", but how many brilliant young minds from economically disadvantaged homes and communities have been wasted through crime, drugs, death or prison.

There are children living in our own neighborhoods that are counting on us now. Believe it or not these are our future business, community and political leaders. Yet everyday thousands of kids don't have access to the tools, information or facilities that could help shape their lives simply because they are trapped in communities that can't support the resources these children should be able to benefit from.

I welcome you and other concerned citizens and community leaders who are willing to take the very necessary steps towards improving the quality of life for children living in our older economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Your tax-deductible donations will help support The BAER Project's Business Attraction and Retention Program and The Welfare-to-Work Transition Assistance Program.

Businesses are responsible for generating much of the tax revenues needed to fund community libraries, clean and safe parks, anti-gang programs and more that give our kids opportunities and options to help them make better decision. By attracting businesses back into Redevelopment Zones or Business Improvement Districts we can directly and indirectly impact the quality of life in these communities.

Every day that goes by we miss an opportunity to reach a child that is counting on us as adults to provide the foundation upon which they will grow. We never know which of these brilliant young minds will emerge as our future leaders. With your help we can make a difference!
